Alles was Sie über Magnesium wissen müssen (auf Englisch)

Article by our Super nutritionist Fiona Benoit expert in Micronutrition and alternative solution.

Long neglected, magnesium is back under the spotlight with it's attribution of many miracle roles ... Outside from the muscles where it is one of the major actors, magnesium is figuration for more than 300 different enzymes, all responsible for energy source reactions.

It is now running for the "Palm d'or" in his role in controlling stress. Indeed, in order to transmit information, the nervous system uses messengers - the neurotransmitters - which transmit the information in the form of nerve impulses between two neurons.

These neurotransmitters are stored and released at the arrival of a nerve impulse that is transmitted from neuron to neuron. But to be able to do, this mechanism needs magnesium. In case of a insufficiency, the storage is bad and the release of neurotransmitters becomes anarchic which generates neuromuscular hyperexcitability.

At the brain level, this causes symptoms such as anxiety, hyperemotivity, irritability, morning fatigue, headaches, insomnia ... At the muscle level, this causes cramps, twitches of eyelids, greater fatigability to the effort, muscular pains or tremor and sometimes even tingling at the extremities ... Finally at the cardiac level, a feeling of throat and chest tightness can be felt as well as palpitations. As most of the magnesium is in the cell, it is the observation of all these signals that usually signals an issu and the problem is that these signals are often more and more frequent.

Indeed, the deficiencies are numerous because the amount present in the cells is too often insufficient. Studies show that 3/4 of people have amounts below the recommended intakes (SU.VI.MAX study). The peak of slimming diets and the industrialization of food are not for nothing in the origin of these deficiencies. Our  hyper-connected society does not help, by bathing the population in a near-permanent stress, causing urinary leakage of magnesium. Thus we enter a vicious circle where magnesium shines by its absence in his last movie where it is the evil of the century.

The synopsis: we stress, we eat badly and our resistance to stress weakens ... Spoiler alert: it ends badly!

So how to do? Let's stay zen, there are solutions.

First by improving your diet and by learning more about foods (the natural ones!) but also by selecting brands, which thanks to their know-how offer good quality products that do you good.

Let's start with what to avoid: refined products, bad fats, alcohol, phytates, calcium, phosphates: they reduce intestinal absorption, so be very careful especially with food associations.

However vitamin D promotes its assimilation in the cell so do not skimp on the fish, we recommend to have it on a pretty terrace in the sun.

The foods that contain the most magnesium are almonds, dark chocolate, hazelnuts, nuts, dried fruits and vegetables, whole grains and shrimps ... not to mention the mineral waters such as Rozanna and Hepar. It's importante to note that the shorter the cooking time and the lower the temperature, the more your food will be rich in micronutrients. But often stressed people are obviously those who do not have time to cook.

You can then opt for supplements in the form of tablets, but beware that they must contain organic magnesium and cofactors (taurine, vitamin B6) if you want to assimilate it properly, or you can also opt for a supplementation more flavorful, in the form of juice for example, like those proposed by Valya where magnesium is in its most natural form. They use cold press to extract all the richness of the fruits and veggies into delicious juices. And speaking of wealth, it is in their Nutshake that you will find the most magnesium, especially the raw cacao & Maca one ...

SO, don’t stress and have a Nutshake.
